This year, attendees will experience a significant change: a ticketed entry for the first time in its long history. This shift aims to help the festival manage rising costs while maintaining the quality that has made it a cherished springtime tradition.
Why Ticketing Was Introduced
After a tough financial year characterized by increased production expenses, reduced sponsorships, and the pressures of the pandemic, the festival faced a $250,000 budget shortfall. Although previously, the festival has been free, organizers found that charging a nominal fee would allow them to cover current expenses and ensure that this historical event can continue for future generations.
Tickets are priced reasonably at $5 for Friday and $10 for Saturday and Sunday, with a weekend pass available for $15. Children aged 12 and under can get in free, making this an accessible option for families looking for budget-friendly activities.
Your Festival Schedule: Know Before You Go
Festival hours start at noon on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, offering plenty of time to explore various activities, indulge in your favorite food, and browse through the extensive Artist Market featuring over 260 vendors.
However, be mindful of the city ordinances: no dogs (except for service animals), no outside food or drinks, and no smoking will be allowed on festival grounds. Attendees should also consider using public transportation or rideshares to avoid parking congestion around Piedmont Park.
