Each year since its inception in 2019, at least one Georgia Bulldog has appeared in the top 10 of this event, with Davis Thompson impressively tying for second last year. Last week’s Travelers Championship featured an astounding three top-10 finishes by Bulldogs, speaking volumes about their talent and determination.
On the subject of Ryder Cup, current standings are crucial as the event looms closer. The top six players from the points list automatically make the team, while the captain selects an additional six players. As it stands, Russell Henley is strategically positioned at 4th in points, and he’s proven his ability to perform consistently. With 12 of 14 cuts made, including several top finishes, he stands as a strong candidate for a captain's pick, alongside fellow Bulldogs Harris English and Brian Harman, who are also solidifying their places within the top ranks.
The Ryder Cup Outlook
With the Ryder Cup scheduled for later this year at Bethpage, representation from the Bulldogs looks promising. Sepp Straka adds an intriguing twist, currently ranking 6th on the European team list.
